The Hot Pools

Every town in Iceland, it seems has hot pools of some kind. Some are state of the art beautiful new pools, and some a really basic. You must shower throroughly before entering the pools (without your swinsuit on) and then brave the biting cold wind to get into the hottest pool you can bear. We find that 39-40 degrees C is the nicest, and easiest to stay in for any length of time. Unfortunately I left my swimsuit at the Blue Lagoon, right at the very beginning of our trip, so now have to hire a suit each time we swim. Yes, they make them that big!!!!! Yesterday's pool was quite a new one built at the top of some basalt cliffs. The most beautiful outlook over the fjord. Then afterwards it's another  hot shower, and back to the tent for a meal.
Ross has been doing all the cooking since the first couple of nights. He likes to do that, so I let him!!! I do the dishes!! and drive the car!!!! Seems like a good plan to me!!
Tonight we are staying in a camping ground in the middle of the town. An extended Icelandic family has cordoned off a part of the camping ground as their very  own!!! I think Jane and Jamie's tent will be a little overshadowed by a camper van!!!!
We're having some cod for tea tonight, bought at the local fishmongers. Looks beautiful!! And is cheaper than chicken to buy.
We are all well, and Jamie will be able to finally get his bag that he left at Frankfurt Airport when we get to Akureyri in a couple of days time.
Hope to update with some photos tomorrow when I have a bit more time.
Jamie and Ross trying to be bike mechanics.

Jane peddling in determined fashion!! As she does!!!

Turf cottage---where Erik the Red hung out.

The cottage was very dark inside. Must have been cosy with all the family members, warriors and guests etc etc!!

The lovely little accommodation place we stayed at near the turf cottage of Erik the Red. I think ours was more comfortable than his!! We had sleeping bag accommodation---which means a bed abd a nice room, but use your own sleeping bag. We had a lounge, so we played dominoes in the evening. Jamie and I lost!!
