2nd July: Land at Keflavik at 12.15am. Stay the night in some local accommodation. Then we go back to the airport to pick up our rental vehicle. Probably visit the info centre in Reykjavik, and have a little bit of a look around the city.
3rd July: Ride 25.9 kms to Grindavik, where we will visit the Blue Lagoon.
4th July: From Grindavik to Mosfellsbaer---75 kms. We'll be camping beside the River Varma.
5th July: Mosfellsbaer to Thingvellir. 36.5 kms
6th July: Thingvellir
7thJuly: Thigvellir to Borganes. Everybody gets in the car this day to travel through the tunnel. Bikes are not allowed in the tunnels. 95 kms today
8th July: Borganes to Arnistapi--121 kms!! A big kilometre day. Camping at Snjofell Cottage.
9th July: Snowmobile tour, or maybe a jeep ride up the mountain, or snowcat ride. Apparently it can be very wet. Arctic foxes are about in this area
10th July: Arnistapi to Stykkisholmur. 116.6 kilometres today, Another big day for the bikers.
11th July: Stykkisholmur to Budardalur or Eiriksstad. 76 kms or 96 kms
12th July: Budardalur or Eiriksstad to Hvammstangi. 81.4 kms
13th July: Hvammstangi to Blonduos 58 kms.
14th July: Bloduos to Saudarkrokur 75.2 kms. Looking out for turf covered buildings.
15th July Saudarkrokur to Siglufjordur 96 kilometres.
16th July Siglufordur. Visit the herring museum, and then a bit of a rest day.
17th July: Siglufjordur to Akureyri 78 kms. More tunnels.
18th July: Akureyri. A day trip to Grimsey Island.
19th July: Akureyri to Husavek. 92 kms Phallological Museum sounds like a "must see!!"
20th July: Husavek to Asbyrgi 70 kms. Visit the canyon late afternoon along with all the other tourists!
21st July: Asbyrgi to Lake Myvatn. Pass through Dettifoss. 97.7 kms all up.
22nd July: Bike around the lake, Many interesting things to see including hot springs,turf roofed houses, pseudocraters etc etc. 35 kilometres.
23rd July: Holiday!! at Lake Myvatn
24th July: Lake Myvatn to Modrudalar.87 kms. Mud pools.
25th July: Modrudalar to Egilsstadir
26th July: Egilsstadir--ride around Lagarfljot. Visit Hallormssradur Forest en route. 56 kms
27th July: Egilsstadir to Stodvartfjordur. 74 kms
28th July: Stodvartfordur to Djupivogur 82 kilometres.
29th July: Dupivigur to Hofn 104 kms
30th July: Hofn Trip to the Ice Cap---Skalafellsjokull. Chance to ride a skidoo if we want.
31st July: Hofn to Skaftafell 135 kilometres
1st August: Skaftafell to Kirkjubaejarklaustur 67 kms
2nd August: Kirkjubaejarklaustur. Excursion bus to Laki for a day trip.
3rd August: Kirkjubaejarklaustur to Vik 72.4 kms Pass Jokulsarlon glacier on the way.
4th August: Vik to Vestmann Islands. Ferry to the Westman Islands. Return and bike to Hvolsvollur.
5th August: Hvolsvollur. Day trip to Porsmork.
6th August: Hvolsvollur to Geysir 182 kms---maybe some time in the car this day.
7th August: Geysir to Tigvellir 51 kms.
8th August Thingvellir to Kevlavik 89.2 kms.
9th August: Keflavik/Reykjavik
10th August: Kevlavik/Reykjavik
11th August: Leave for New Zealand at 7.25am.
