Picked up the repaired tent pole today---good job we found that it was cracked BEFORE we landed in Iceland!! I guess we could sleep in the car if the tent decides to misbehave. So, our tent is ready. We have to organize a meeting to sort out how we pack all our gear for the big adventure---the cooking equipment, the bikes, the clothing, the medications, the tents, of course, and some dried food packets for emergency supplies. That's all they're fit for really. Not exactly gourmet food, but it will fill a gap if absolutely necessary.
We have to travel with as few clothes as possible, because the bikes weigh a bit, and we don't want to be paying excess baggage. For me, packing lightly is a real difficulty, as anyone who has travelled with me will testify to!! With each bike going in a large bag, along with some other bits and pieces of clothing, our one suitcase (between Ross and me) will have to be carefully packed. No excess knickers!! or t-shirts!! We'll wear everything for days at a time, depending on the availability of washing facilities. Thank goodness for things such as pantie liners (sorry guys) and all those washing gels that help to keep things seemly!! On June the 18th we're having a meeting about the packing. I'm responsible for the camera equipment and all the electrical cords we require for recharging the cameras and phones etc, and power adaptors. It's a pity everything needs a different cord and charging mechanism---but that's technology for you, making a simple thing complicated.
